Brand Ambassador: Ieva Aldins

Q: What is your occupation?

Ieva: I work as a yoga instructor on Nantucket and around the world. I also work at Straight Wharf Restaurant as the head sommelier in the summer seasons.

Q: What or who inspired you to become an instructor and why?

Ieva: I took my first teacher training in India because I wanted to deepen my spiritual experience with Yoga. I got my first gig teaching by happenstance when an instructor at a surf retreat fell ill. The students and their gratitude for how good they felt after class inspired me to keep teaching. To this day it is still the students that inspire me.

Q: How do you describe what you do and what do you love most about it?

Ieva: I teach people to be in their bodies through movement and stillness, to experience the life force of their breathe, and to become observers of their emotions and minds. It is hands down the sparkle of joy in people's eyes after practice that keeps me in the game.

Q: When you are feeling overwhelmed or stressed, what gives you peace?

Ieva: Getting in the ocean always makes my problems seem smaller.

Q: What are your hobbies or passions other than job?

Ieva: Surfing is my biggest love.  I also enjoy devouring good books or throwing my backpack on a plane and discovering a new corner of the world, both can open my mind in profound ways

Q: What is your personal style?

Ieva: My teaching style is anatomically precise and playful. I am also known for leading dreamy relaxations in Sivasana and Yoga Nidra meditation.

Q: Why did you want to be an ambassador for Crane & Lion?

Ieva: Initially it was hearing about John's passion for community that made me want to get involved. Then I saw the store and how cute everything was!

Q: What’s your favorite Crane & Lion piece?

Ieva: The lightweight capri leggings- they feel amazing on my skin! ...and everything in Morrocan blue- gorgeous color!
